Chest binding safely
The Dos & Don’ts about chest binding
The Risks and Side Effects
Binding can affect skin, muscles, and movement, particularly over long periods. Binding improperly or for too long can lead to chest and back pain. It is safest and most common to bind using a dedicated binder.
Ill-fitting chest binder could prevent skins from breathing properly thus causing unwanted accumulation of moisture which may lead to bacterial infection. If the binder is too tight, over time, one may experience breast tissue and muscle pain, restricted movement, and shortness of breath. Shoulder, back and even chronic pain may appear after over time.
Make sure to always measure yourself again, and check against the size chart offered by the chest binder company that you are buying from. If you are switching brands, measure and check again, Brands tend to utilize a brand-specific size chart system. This is crucial to get the right fit for your body.
Fytist chest binder is less constraining compared to other brands. Our binder adapts ultra-breathable fabrics and uses a reinforced back support structure to improve body posture and minimizes back pain.

Binding While Exercising?
When you exercise, particularly plan to do some intense activities, like weightlifting workouts, HIIT, cardio exercising, or swimming, we suggest you not wear a chest binder. You need to breathe deeply, move freely, and be more likely to sweat when you exercise. It may cause severe shortness of breath or dizziness. If you want to have regular exercise, not strenuous, get a binder one size up from your regular fit,
Our Fytist binder is designed to be more elastic compared to other brands. However, the Fytist binder isn't intended as a sports compression garment. Therefore, there are a few suggestions we need you to be mindful of when you exercise in your Fytist Binder:
1) If you are uncertain or have extenuating health conditions, we need you to check in with your doctor before wearing the Fytist binder during exercise.
2) Know your limits and do not push yourself too far. When exercising with a binder, you need to take baby steps to adapt to exercising with your binder. If you experience any pain or discomfort, you must take off the binder and stop any activity;
3) We recommend buying the racerback-style Fytist chest binder for exercises or sports activities.
